About Us

AOHD (Archdiocesan Office for Human Development) promotes activities concerning charity, integral human development, justice and peace within the Catholic Church’s Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese. It operates under the purview of the AOHD Secretariat and Board of Management, with Rev. Bernard Hyacinth Arputhasamy, S.J. as the Director.

 

Vision
To be one with God, in solidarity with the whole human family and creation.

Mission
To function as the Archdiocese’s official organ (and under the Archbishop’s authority) in all matters pertaining to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan focus on Integral Human Development (IHD). IHD is the holistic development of the whole human person and of all peoples, especially the weak, disadvantage and marginalised.

 


Objectives
To create mission awareness and outreach among the Catholic faithful in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.

To network with governmental bodies, civil society organisations and believers of other faiths towards creating a more humane society.

To work closely with Parish Integral Human Development Ministries (PIHDMs) and Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) in all Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese parishes to provide more effective pastoral care to the poor and marginalised in their respective communities.

To provide direct services to these five priority groups: the urban and rural poor, drug addicts and people with HIV/AIDS, children with special needs, indigenous people, and migrants.

To organise on-going formation programmes, especially those concerning Catholic social teachings, and spiritual and practical skills for PIHDMs.

To organise the Archdiocesan Lenten Campaign and manage the funds collected for implementing humanitarian projects.

To serve as a resource and information centre on matters pertaining to charity, integral human development, justice and peace.
