And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
There are 206,000 Orang Aslis in Semenanjung Malaysia with close to 99.29% that fall within the B40 category. While the country grows progressively, these people have been much neglected. Most of them live in deplorable conditions with no basic facilities, such as, clean water and electricity. Their habitats have robbed of them leaving them with the nothing more than the patch that their huts stand on. The jungles provided them with their food while the rivers fed them with its fishes, all of which have been destroyed and contaminated.
The Church has always been the voice of the poor. With that, the GCKOA (Garam dan Cahaya Kawan Orang Asli) was established to reach out to these communities, helping them to build homes, providing them with basic necessities and educating their young ones. It is the mission of GCKOA to help them help themselves towards a sustainable livelihood besides looking into initiatives to generate income. Through all this it must not be forgotten that the ultimate goal is to help them to be masters of their own destiny.
