The Special Needs Learning Centre (SNLC) started in 1998. A special class was formed within the existing Kindergarten at Sacred Heart Church, Peel Road. Three founding parents who were desperate for educational support for their children with special needs then approached Bro.Rogers who was the Director of AOHD then, to form a special needs centre. In July 2001, Special Needs Learning centre (SNLC) was set up with the support of Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD) and blessed by the Late Cardinal His Eminence Soter Fernandez, Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam and Emeritus Anthony Selvanayagam.
The center was situated at No 5, Jalan Bukit Nanas. The centre is now renamed to Pusat Jagaan Istimewa Nathanael which falls under The Ministry for Special Needs under the Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD).
The Ministry for Special Needs, caters for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using programs such as Early Intervention Program (EIP), and School Age Program (SAP) for children between ages 4-14 years old. The center promotes a combination of educational and therapeutic support for the growth and development for the differently abled individuals.
